5 RARE PLANTS GROWING IN INDONESIA

As a tropical country Indonesia has the potential to contain a lot of natural biodiversity, including some rare plants, here we present five rare plant that grows in Indonesia

1. BUNGA BANGKAI RAKSASA 

Bunga bangkai raksasa or Suweg giant corpse flower or giant or stem krebuit (the local name for the vegetative phase), Amorphophallus titanum Becc., Is a plant of the tribe yarns taro (Araceae) endemic of Sumatra, Indonesia, which is known as a plant with flowers (plural) in the world , though the record mentions that a relative, A. gigas (also endemic of Sumatra) can generate high interest 5m. 2. RAFFLESIA ARNOLDI


Rafflesia Arnoldi is an obligate parasites of plants known for having very large flowers, even the largest flower in the world. He grew up in a network of vines (lianas) Tetrastigma and do not have leaves that can not photosynthesize. 3. KANTONG SEMAR 


Kantong semar or The genus Nepenthes (Nepenthes, English: Tropical pitcher plant), which is included in the familia monotipik, consisting of 130 species and does not include natural and artificial hybrids. This genus is a carnivorous plant in tropical regions of the Old World, now includes the Indonesian state, the southern part of the People's Republic of China, Indochina, Malaysia, Philippines, western Madagascar, the Seychelles, New Caledonia, India, Sri Lanka, and Australia. Most species habitat is on the island of Borneo and Sumatra.
This plant can reach a height of 15-20 m in a way climbing other plants, although there are some species that do not climb. At the end there is a leaf tendrils that can be modified to form pockets, which trap tool used to eat its prey (eg insects, slugs, toads children) who go into.
 

 4. EDELWEIS



Edelweiss has a Latin name Anaphalis javanica. Perennial flower called edelweiss flower because it proved not wither after being picked from a tree, but it instantly dries without changing shape and appearance. This plant can reach a height of 8 m and has a trunk of a human foot. This plant can be found in many high mountains of Indonesia such as Java, South Sumatra, South Sulawesi and Lombok.

5. SARANG SEMUT 

Sarang Semut or Ants Nest is a term to refer to the genus Myrmecodia Indonesia, a genus of epiphytic plants mirmekofita originating from Southeast Asia. The term comes from the Greek Myrmecodia myrmekodes which means "ant-like" or "surrounded by ants". Anthill grows on the branches or trunks of plants and found many areas of Papua. In nature, ants nest tubers usually depends on the branches of the plant without a significant amount of substrate, so it depends on a symbiotic process for nutritional needs. This plant delivers nutrients and water through the Bongkot grayish brown fluffy and overgrown thorns.
